All About Shannon

Hi! I am a dietetic intern and graduated in 2019 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I enjoy learning about food, eating food, and making food! I believe that nutrition and wellness are different for every individual and that moderation is an amazing tool for finding what fits each one of us. I have been fortunate enough to have experienced how nutrition can affect the quality of my life, mood, and day-to-day activities very early on in my life, and I hope to help others find what foods and eating styles work best for them as well. The only way to eat is the way that makes you feel like your best self, and I believe it is this mentality that helps folks best use food as their medicine to fit whatever wellness goals they have in mind. I can't wait to see what opportunities I have in the future to continue journeying into the relationship between nutrition and holistic wellness.

Throughout my blog posts, I will be focusing in on the Mediterranean diet as a diet pattern that has shown great promise in the means of health benefits. I believe it combines an emphasis on healthful living with variety and moderation in most all the food groups. While I will be dissecting the parts of the Mediterranean diet that help make it the healthful diet that it is, I hope to convey to readers that there is no one "superfood" but rather a variety of foods that are best to round out our diets and make us whole.
